The Hervey Bay Surf
Life Saving Club was originally formed in the 1950’s by members living in
Maryborough and spending their week-ends at the Bay. Over the years with people
leaving the district for education and employment, membership fell away.
However with the expansion of the Bay in recent years, the club was reformed in
1986 and the Clubhouse was built in 1994.
Last season
the club again underwent expansion and refurbishment due to some
successful grants the club had applied for. So new and old members
alike will be treated to new and modern facilities over the coming
seasons.
Recent
membership totaled 300 members and included 140 Nippers.
Membership includes families from Hervey Bay, Maryborough and
outlying areas.
The
Surf Life Saving motto is
“Vigilance and Service”.
